Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Book 6 lineup with a much cheaper model, bringing the starting price down to $799.
The new laptop looks set to give Windows users a more affordable alternative to Apple’s MacBook Neo. At the same time, it still offers a 14-inch display, long battery life and Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem features.
The new Galaxy Book 6 comes in below the original model, which launched in the US in March with a starting price of $1,050, though Samsung has since added a Snapdragon X2 Elite-powered version costing $2,100. Therefore, this new $799 model is a significant step toward the budget end of the lineup.
The lower price comes with a choice of Intel Core 3 or Core 5 processors, depending on the configuration and market. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. RAM is available in either 8GB or 16GB configurations.
Samsung has fitted the laptop with a 14-inch 1,920 x 1,200 display with an anti-glare finish. Battery life is rated at up to 25 hours on a single charge, and 45W fast charging is available when you need to top it up quickly.
For connectivity, the Galaxy Book 6 has two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI 1.4 connection and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also gets a selection of Samsung’s software features. These include AI Select for selecting content on the screen and Note Assist for summarising notes and highlighting important information.
As a Galaxy device, the laptop can also share and access files with other Galaxy products and use a Galaxy Tab as a second display. That could make it particularly appealing to users who already own Samsung devices.
The Galaxy Book 6 is available in Grey and Violet Silver, with the latter being a new colour for the lineup. It is currently available in select markets, with pricing starting at $799.
