AVerMedia GC313PROW Charging Capture Hub Review

Hey, welcome back to the channel. Today I want to talk about the AVerMedia GC313PROW because I’m unsure how I feel about it right now because on one hand I feel like it’s not really a product that the world needed, but at the same time I’m here like whoa, that’s actually pretty neat. And I’m conflicted because some of my content could definitely use this because I capture Steam Deck gameplay and turn it into videos, but I can only really think I’d need something like this on the go. Though I suppose the model number in its entirety includes the words Elite Go, so there’s that.

But basically, the GC313 acts as a powered hub. Its small size is absolutely ideal to carry around with them to different locations. It’s got two USB Type C inputs, one HDMI output and a USB Type A input. One Type-C connection is going into my rig here, and the other os going into my Steam Deck. to capture my gameplay. It’s a bit of a spaghetti junction, but just check out what I mean.

So setup is fairly simple, right and doesn’t have much to it at all. I mean, I would have liked to have seen a second USB Type-C in the box, I think AVerMedia really messed up there, and to be honest, how much is a USB Type-C cable now to not include one. It’s a bit messed up and really quite poor customer service I think. It’s like a printer not coming with a USB cable or a PlayStation not coming with an HDMI cable. Oh yeah, this thing doesn’t come with an HDMI cable either. It’s poor form, it really is. And yes, I know people generally have these lying around, especially with their phone and things, but what about me when my Steam Deck comes with its own hardwired charging cable? I had to buy a Type-C cable to get going.

The GC313 works really well with their own software called the Streaming Centre, just check it out.

And also, if you’re going to be using this GC313 with OBS Studio, then it’s easy to get it included into your current Scene. Just look how.

So who is this for then? Well, to be honest, as it says in the name, people on the Go. If you need to get some footage captured from a phone, tablet, or handheld gaming device, then this is a great product for doing so. It will certainly keep your setup nice and compact, especially if you have one of those skinny Macbooks. I’m finding it hard to think of a use case for someone who already has some kind of desktop streaming or content creation setup in their home. Maybe if you’ve got a console in the lounge and you need to get some quick game highlights? Yeah maybe. I mean it costs £100 here in the UK, which I don’t think is too bad, but I do think it’s a missed opportunity not to include a second USB Type-C cable. Gotta think of the end user, AVerMedia. Provide enough equipment for your customer to set up and go right away. It’s just good customer service.
