Apple looks set to make iPhone customisation a little less frustrating with iOS 27 thanks to a small but genuinely useful tweak to the Home Screen.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is testing Undo and Redo buttons within the existing edit menu. This change could save users from constantly rearranging icons and widgets from scratch.
Right now, editing your Home Screen involves long-pressing to bring up the Edit menu. There, you can add widgets, tweak layouts, or adjust wallpapers. It works, but it’s not exactly forgiving. Move one widget and everything else can shift around it. This often triggers a chain reaction that’s hard to reverse cleanly.
That’s where iOS 27’s reported update comes in. By adding simple Undo and Redo controls to that same menu, Apple would finally let users roll back mistakes instantly. Or, users could flip between different layouts without having to manually rebuild them. It’s a small change on paper, but one that makes a lot of sense if you’ve ever spent too long trying to “perfect” your Home Screen.
It also fits into Apple’s broader push towards deeper personalisation. Over the past few iOS updates, the company has gradually opened up the Home Screen with widgets, lock screen customisation, and more flexible layouts. This looks like the next step. They are not adding new features, but smoothing out how you actually use them.
The Home Screen tweaks aren’t the only changes expected in iOS 27, either. The update is also rumoured to include a Liquid Glass adjustment slider. It should offer further refinements to Apple Intelligence features and a long-awaited overhaul of Siri. There will also be general performance and battery improvements.
It’s still early days, and Apple hasn’t confirmed any of these features yet. But if the Undo/Redo addition makes the final cut, iOS 27 could quietly fix one of the more annoying parts of iPhone customisation. It could do so without reinventing the Home Screen entirely.
