Audiovector has introduced the R 5 Arreté, a new high-end loudspeaker.
Although it sits just below the brand’s flagship R 10 Arreté, the R 5 brings much of that technology down into a more “everyday” reference-level design.
Engineered and hand-built at Audiovector’s offices in Denmark, the R 5 Arreté has been five years in the making with over 2,000 hours of listening tests shaping its final tuning. According to the brand, the goal was to hit what it calls the “sweet spot” between performance, scale and design. Yet it achieves this without pushing into oversized, room-dominating territory.
At its core, the R 5 uses a 3.5-way driver architecture, which splits bass duties across two dedicated drivers. One handles the full bass range, while the other focuses purely on the deepest frequencies. The intended result is a low-end performance that’s meant to feel both controlled and physical, creating what Audiovector describes as a “line source-like effect” that fills the room more evenly.
The design deliberately keeps the midrange clean and isolated, aiming for a fast, transparent response that bass energy doesn’t mask. In practice, the speaker delivers detail without losing weight. So you get bass you feel, but also with precision.
Ole Klifoth, Audiovector’s Head of R&D and Founder, says they tune the driver system to respond “at the very first moment of a signal,” so it captures small details instead of smearing them in the mix.
A three-position damping system provides a key part of the flexibility, allowing users to tune the speaker depending on the amplifier and room setup.
Design-wise, the R 5 Arreté sticks closely to Audiovector’s clean Scandinavian aesthetic. A narrow front baffle helps reduce diffraction for a more focused soundstage. In addition, the new Arreté plinth and decoupling spikes are designed to reduce unwanted vibration at the base. The finish leans heavily on real wood veneers paired with high-gloss surfaces for a more furniture-grade look.
The loudspeaker comes in Black Piano, White Silk, African Mahogany Piano, and Italian Walnut, with custom finishes available on request.
Renaissance Managing Director John Carroll describes it as a “Danish masterclass in sound, styling and design” that lands in the sweet spot Audiovector was aiming for.
The Audiovector R 5 Arreté will be available from July, priced at £17,950.
