MSI has unveiled a wide range of tech at Computex 2026, but the standout is clearly the Claw 8 EX AI+, a next-generation handheld gaming device.
At its core, the Claw 8 EX AI+ is powered by Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme processor, marking the first handheld implementation of Intel’s new gaming-focused silicon. MSI positions it as a platform built for AAA gaming on the go, combining improved efficiency with higher graphics performance through Intel’s latest Xe architecture, leveraging both XeSS 3 upscaling and Multi-Frame Generation.
The headline hardware change is the 8-inch 120Hz VRR display. It pushes a larger canvas than typical handhelds while delivering a smooth framerate with adaptive refresh rates to reduce tearing and stutter. That’s paired with upgraded Hall-effect sticks and triggers, a refined D-pad, and a redesigned ergonomic grip.
MSI has also added a new high-end linear haptic motor, designed to deliver more precise tactile feedback that varies by in-game action. It’s a small detail on paper, but it increasingly defines premium handheld experiences as competitors push beyond basic vibration.
On the software side, the Claw 8 EX AI+ integrates Xbox Mode for faster game launching and seamless resuming alongside a redesigned Quick Settings overlay. This overlay allows real-time tuning of features such as Multi-Frame Generation and performance profiles without leaving gameplay.
The device also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth connectivity, and dual Thunderbolt ports, along with a microSD slot for expandable storage. The 80Wh battery aims to extend play sessions beyond typical handheld limits, but, of course, real-world endurance will ultimately depend on what you’re doing and the settings the handheld runs at.
MSI’s approach here doesn’t reinvent exactly the handheld category, but it does push a familiar formula forward with stronger silicon, a larger display, and more granular performance controls.
