KLH Audio has unveiled the Model Four, a new three-way acoustic suspension loudspeaker that sits between the Model Three and Model Five.
The new model aims to bring the brand’s full-range sound philosophy into a more compact, placement-friendly design to help shed the negative connotations around more tradition hi-fi speakers.
At its core, the Model Four combines elements from across KLH’s existing line-up. It uses the 8-inch woofer introduced in the Model Three and pairs it with the same 4-inch midrange and 1-inch tweeter architecture found in the Model Five.
A sealed acoustic suspension cabinet houses everything and allows more flexible room placement. KLH continues to lean on its long-standing argument that sealed designs behave more predictably in real-world living spaces than ported alternatives.
Physically, the Model Four reduces the usual compromise between size and performance. The cabinet measures 13-inches wide with a shallow depth of 8.25 inches, extending to just under 11-inches when fitted with its 6-degree slanted riser base. The box includes the stand, which aligns the drivers more precisely with the listener. As a result, it optimises the speaker for typical living room placement without requiring dedicated stands.
Inside the sealed MDF enclosure, the three-way system is built around an 8-inch pulp-paper woofer, a dedicated 4-inch midrange driver, and a 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter. KLH rates the system as being to reach down to 46Hz, with a claimed maximum SPL of 108dB. In addition, a three-position Acoustic Balance Control switch also allows users to adjust mid and high-frequency response depending on room acoustics.
Finishes include English Walnut, Black Ash, and White Oak. They come with fabric grille designs intended to match more modern interiors. At £899 / €999 / $999.99 for each speaker (double that for a pair), the Model Four targets listeners who want serious acoustic performance without moving into large floorstanding territory.
