Wyze has launched a new smart scale that promises far more than a simple weight reading – and it’s just $80.
The new Wyze Scale BodyScan arrives as a more affordable alternative to last year’s Ultra BodyScan, which launched at $120. While the price has dropped, many of the headline features have stayed intact. This includes the built-in handle that allows for more detailed body composition tracking.
Rather than focusing solely on weight, the Scale BodyScan can measure 17 different health metrics, including body fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, body water, bone mass, protein levels, lean body weight and basal metabolism. In addition, the handle also enables what’s known as segmented body analysis. This provides a more detailed breakdown of muscle and fat distribution across the arms, legs and torso.
One of the more practical upgrades is the scale’s 4.7-inch LED display, which can show seven key measurements directly on the device. That means users can check metrics such as weight, BMI, body fat, muscle mass and body water without immediately reaching for their phone.
Wyze has also tried to make the scale easier to use in households with multiple people. The BodyScan can automatically recognise and sync data for up to eight users. Meanwhile, guest measurements can be taken without affecting personal health records.
Beyond people tracking, the scale includes dedicated modes for weighing babies, pets and luggage. This makes it a little more versatile than the average bathroom scale.
Health data can also be shared beyond the Wyze app. The company has added support for Google Health through Health Connect, alongside compatibility with Apple Health on iPhone. Users can also generate downloadable PDF reports to keep track of long-term trends and progress.
Another notable feature is Wyze’s “Step Anywhere Surface” technology, which uses conductive glass to capture body composition readings regardless of where users stand on the scale.
The Wyze Scale BodyScan is available now through Wyze’s online store and Amazon. At under $80, it looks to be targeting users who want deeper health insights. This option appeals to those who do not want to step up to the increasingly expensive premium end of the smart scale market.
