Apple has updated Apple Invites with a new co-hosting feature. Now, it is much easier for multiple people to organise the same event.
The headline addition is the ability to add up to five co-hosts to an event. Once assigned, co-hosts can edit details such as the event description, date and location. They can also invite additional guests and manage links. It’s a small change on paper. Nevertheless, it makes a lot of sense for everything from birthday parties to group trips. In those situations, planning duties are often shared.
There are a few limitations. Co-hosts can’t delete an event, add other co-hosts, or manage shared playlists and photo albums. So, the original creator still keeps overall control. To become a co-host, a guest must first RSVP to the invitation.
The update also adds several new event backgrounds designed around different types of gatherings. Apple says users can now choose themed backgrounds for events such as coffee meetups, boba runs and ice cream socials. This gives invitations a bit more personality before they even land in someone’s inbox.
Another handy tweak gives hosts more control over guest visibility. Event creators can now choose whether invited guests are visible to everyone attending. As a result, it is easier for larger groups to see who’s coming ahead of time.
While these aren’t exactly headline-grabbing features, they address some of the app’s biggest practical limitations. Since launching in early 2025, Apple Invites has positioned itself as a cleaner alternative to traditional event planning tools. It allows users to create invitations from an iPhone or through iCloud. Meanwhile, guests can RSVP from either the app or the web.
This latest update feels less like a flashy new feature drop and more like Apple refining the experience. The changes are based on how people actually use the app. If you’ve ever found yourself planning an event with friends and constantly forwarding updates back and forth, the new co-hosting option could end up being the most useful addition yet.
