Hisense has revealed their 2026 RGB MiniLED range

Hisense has moved into a new phase of display development with its 2026 RGB MiniLED television lineup, a range built around a backlight architecture that replaces white LEDs and colour filters with individual red, green, and blue diodes that emit colour at the source rather than deriving it through filtration.

That fundamental shift in how the backlight produces colour has measurable consequences for picture quality, with the approach enabling coverage of up to 100 percent of the BT.2020 colour space, a specification that has historically been associated with high-end professional reference monitors rather than consumer living room displays.

The direct-emission approach also enchances local dimming performance, with each LED’s independent control allowing finer gradations between bright and dark areas of the frame than conventional white backlight arrays can typically deliver with the same number of dimming zones.

Three model lines carry the RGB MiniLED technology across the 2026 range, with the UR9S available in 65, 75, and 85-inch sizes and rated to a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, the UR8S available in 55, 65, 75, 85, and 100-inch sizes with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, and the UXQ sitting at the top of the range in 100 and 116-inch formats with a peak brightness of 8,000 nits.

Audio configurations differ across the three models, with the UR9S carrying a 4.1.2 multi-channel surround system, the UR8S a 2.1.2 multi-channel surround configuration, and the UXQ stepping up to a 6.2.2 CineStage X system developed in partnership with Devialet under the Opera de Paris programme.

The entry point for the range at 55 inches through the UR8S addresses a common criticism of high-brightness MiniLED lineups, which have historically concentrated flagship display specifications in screen sizes above 75 inches that carry a significant price premium over mid-range alternatives.

If the prospect of 8,000 nits of peak brightness and full BT.2020 colour coverage has raised questions about how Hisense’s televisions perform in real-world living rooms, our Hisense TV reviews put the manufacturer’s broader lineup through its paces across a range of sizes and price points
