Samsung could be about to make one of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s biggest new features standard across its flagship lineup.
According to a report from South Korea, Samsung plans to equip all four Galaxy S27 models with Flex Magic Pixel AMOLED panels.
This is the display technology that powers the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s software-controlled Privacy Display mode.
This would mean Samsung will not keep it exclusive to the Ultra and buyers won’t have to pay for Samsung’s top-tier flagship. In 2027, they will get the feature more easily.
Privacy Display is designed to stop people nearby from peeking at your screen. Once enabled, the feature narrows the display’s viewing angle so only the person looking directly at the phone can clearly see what’s on-screen. Moreover, when viewed from the side, the display appears heavily dimmed or almost completely black. This depends on the settings.
The technology could also spark a new battleground among Android phone makers. The same report claims both Xiaomi and Huawei are developing their own alternatives. However, they are taking different approaches.
Huawei is reportedly working on a hardware-based solution that differs from Samsung’s implementation. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is believed to be pursuing a software-driven version that works alongside its operating system. Previous rumours have already pointed to a similar privacy feature arriving with the Xiaomi 18 series. This series will debut alongside Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 later this year.
As always, it’s worth treating early supply chain reports with some caution until Samsung makes anything official. Plans can change well before launch, especially when they’re still around two years away.
Still, if the report proves accurate, Privacy Display may not remain an Ultra-exclusive perk for long. Instead, it could become one of the defining features across Samsung’s entire flagship range. Meanwhile, rival Android brands will race to offer their own take on keeping your screen private.
