Oppo’s next camera flagship is already shaping up to be another serious photography contender.
The latest details come from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, who claims Oppo is testing several camera upgrades for the Find X10 Ultra. As with any early prototype, though, the final hardware could still change.
The biggest rumoured upgrade concerns the phone’s 10x periscope camera. According to the leak, Oppo is testing a new 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GNB sensor. It would be larger than the sensor used on the current Find X9 Ultra. A bigger sensor generally allows more light in. Therefore, it could improve long-range zoom shots, particularly in low-light conditions.
The secondary 3x telephoto camera could also receive a boost. Oppo is reportedly evaluating two different sensors. One is the same 200MP, 1/1.3-inch sensor found on the Find X9 Ultra. Meanwhile, the other is an even larger 200MP 1/1.12-inch sensor that’s closer in size to a flagship main camera. It’s still unclear which version, if either, will make it into the final device.
That dual periscope setup remains one of Oppo’s biggest differentiators. While many flagship phones include a single telephoto lens, the Find X series has continued to pair 3x and 10x zoom cameras. This gives it more flexibility across different focal lengths.
The leak also points to an interesting change around the front. Oppo is said to be testing a selfie camera built around a square sensor. This is similar in concept to Apple’s Center Stage camera. Earlier rumours have even suggested it could use a high-resolution 100MP sensor, although those claims remain unconfirmed.
If that proves accurate, the new sensor could allow for smarter cropping during video calls while maintaining image quality. Therefore, it could make the front camera more versatile for both selfies and video.
There’s no official word from Oppo yet, and the Find X10 Ultra isn’t expected until 2027. Even so, if these camera upgrades survive testing, Oppo’s next Ultra could be another strong challenger. It could compete in the increasingly competitive flagship camera phone market.
