Google’s Pixel Watch 5 is set to launch with a higher starting price and a new colour, according to fresh leaks.
Dealabs reports that the Pixel Watch 5 lineup will span two sizes, each with two connectivity options, bringing the total to four variants at a starting price of $399, roughly $50 more than the outgoing Pixel Watch 4.
If true, the roughly 15% year-over-year rise marks the first series-wide price increase in the Pixel Watch line’s history, pushing the entry-level model to match the starting cost of Apple’s Watch Series 11.
The price rise mirrors a rumoured price increase across Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 series, suggesting the company is passing higher component costs on to consumers across multiple product lines this year.
The 41mm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model is tipped to start at $399, with the 45mm variant priced at $429, while the LTE versions rise to $499 for the smaller size and $529 for the larger one.
Industry-wide memory shortages, often referred to as RAMageddon, appear to be driving up Google’s component costs this year, even though no major hardware upgrades have surfaced in current leaks.
New colour option and finishes
Dealabs and Nieuwe Mobiel both describe four available finishes, including Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver and Warm Gold for the smaller size only, with a new matte shade called Pyrite that spans both case sizes.
A mockup shared by Nieuwe Mobiel depicts Pyrite as a tan-leaning gold tone, though Dealabs suggests the finish could lean toward green despite pyrite’s naturally golden appearance in mineral form.
Despite the new addition, the overall colour count technically holds steady compared with Pixel Watch 4, which offered Champagne Gold and Satin Moonstone as size-exclusive options alongside its two standard finishes.
Making Pyrite available across both the 41mm and 45mm cases gives every buyer access to what appears to be this year’s signature colourway, unlike previous generations that reserved standout shades for a single size.
Google has also confirmed an August 12 event for its next Pixel hardware lineup, with today’s report pointing to an August 20 release date for the Pixel Watch 5 series, though pricing and colours remain unofficial.
