Samsung’s next clamshell foldable could deliver different levels of performance depending on where you buy it.
According to Roland Quandt of WinFuture, the European Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip, matching the processor featured in the European versions of the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. In addition, the Korean model is also tipped to use the Exynos chipset.
However, buyers in the US are reportedly getting something different. The leak claims the American Galaxy Z Flip 8 will instead run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This continues Samsung’s long-running strategy of splitting flagship hardware between regions.
If that proves accurate, performance comparisons are almost inevitable. Samsung’s dual-chip approach has often sparked debate among buyers, especially when benchmarks reveal differences in speed, graphics performance or battery efficiency between Snapdragon and Exynos variants.
The Galaxy Z Fold range, however, appears to be avoiding that divide. The same leak says both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 globally, regardless of where they’re sold – the same flagship processor powering the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Samsung has already confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22. This means there’s not long to wait before the company officially unveils its latest foldables.
In the meantime, Samsung has opened reservations for the new Galaxy devices. Customers who register their interest ahead of the event can receive a $30 Samsung Credit to use during pre-orders. This is offered alongside trade-in offers worth up to $1,230 in total savings, depending on the device they’re upgrading from.
