Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, bringing the Ultra branding to its foldable range for the first time.
While the headline feature is a slimmer design, much of the experience will feel familiar to anyone who has used recent Galaxy Z Fold devices. Instead, Samsung is focusing on refining the hardware and expanding its AI capabilities.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be available to pre-order from 22 July, ahead of its general release on 7 August.
Samsung says the Fold 8 Ultra is its thinnest foldable yet, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded. To achieve that, the company has introduced a new Flex Titanium construction. This combines a titanium alloy plate and film to make the display thinner and more durable while also reducing the visibility of the crease.
The phone continues to sport Samsung’s largest foldable display to date, pairing an 8-inch inner screen with a 6.5-inch cover display. Both panels reach up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and include an anti-reflective coating designed to improve outdoor visibility.

Elsewhere, Samsung has upgraded the camera hardware with a new 50MP ultra-wide camera sitting alongside the 200MP main and 10MP telephoto lenses. In addition, the latest Pro Visual Engine and Cine Lux processing promise better photos and improved video quality.
Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, backed by a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 45W wired charging. While those specifications are flagship-level, they’re largely in line with what we’ve come to expect from Samsung’s premium foldables.
New AI features include Now Nudge, which recommends actions based on context. Alongside this, there is Advanced Automation, allowing tasks to be completed across multiple apps without manually switching between them.
Samsung has also introduced Notebooks in Gemini, a feature that can organise notes, documents and other multimodal content into structured summaries, meeting minutes or infographics directly on the device.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra doesn’t arrive alone. Samsung has also announced the Galaxy Z Fold 8, aimed at users focused on media consumption. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 continues to prioritise portability and AI-powered features through its redesigned Flex Window.
The Fold 8 Ultra may not dramatically reinvent Samsung’s foldable formula. However, by making the device thinner, brighter and more AI-focused, Samsung is betting that incremental improvements will be enough to keep its flagship foldable ahead of the competition.
