Sky customers in the UK are getting another streaming service included in their TV package as Hayu is finally available at no extra cost.
From July 29, customers with Sky Ultimate TV can access Hayu’s full catalogue of more than 250 reality TV shows without paying the usual £5.99. Most Sky Q and Sky+ pay TV packages are also eligible.
There is no need for a separate subscription, app or login as this integration builds on the limited “Taste of Hayu” preview that Sky introduced earlier this year. It brings the entire service directly into the Sky TV experience, rather than an app. That’s slightly different to how the integration wth services like Netflix and HBO Max works.
The biggest draw is access to seriously popular reality franchises like The Real Housewives series and Below Deck, along with their huge amounts of various spin-offs. Sky says subscribers will also be able to watch same-day US episodes – a welcome bonus to avoid spoilers.
Shows appear alongside other content on the Sky homepage, and they will appear in personalised recommendations, so you’ll be able to continue watching across devices, including Sky Go.
Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q owners can use voice commands to jump straight into shows. You can use phrases such as “Hello Sky, play Below Deck Mediterranean” or “Watch Hayu.” On Sky Glass and Sky Stream, viewers can also add Hayu programmes to a Playlist.
Sky Ultimate TV, which starts from £24 per month, already includes Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Sky’s own original programming. Adding Hayu at no extra charge gives reality TV fans another reason to consider the package rather than paying for each service individually.
Sky also notes that existing customers who currently pay for Hayu separately through Sky Marketplace can cancel that standalone subscription. Instead, they can access the service through their eligible Sky TV package.
For eligible customers, it’s a straightforward upgrade that expands Sky’s all-in-one approach to streaming without increasing the monthly bill.
