iOS 27 beta reveals multiple secret iPhone models

Apple’s latest iOS 27 beta appears to have revealed references to six unreleased iPhone models.

As reported by Macworld, iOS 27 beta 5 contains six previously unseen device identifiers buried within system files associated with the iPhone’s battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features. While Apple hasn’t confirmed what these devices are, the codes line up with models that have already appeared in previous reports

The references found in the beta are V62, believed to correspond to the iPhone Air 2. V63 is linked to the iPhone 18 Pro, and V64 is believed to be the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the other identifiers are V67, associated with the iPhone 18. V68 is believed to refer to the iPhone Ultra, and V69 is linked to the iPhone 18e.

It’s worth stressing that the iOS code doesn’t actually name these products. The model names have been inferred by matching the internal identifiers with previous leaks and reporting, so it’s worth taking everything with a pinch of salt.

Still, finding all six identifiers together is notable. Previous leaks have already suggested Apple will start changing its usual iPhone launch schedule with the iPhone 18 range split across two launch windows.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to arrive in September 2026. They are likely to launch alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone. This device is apparently being referred to as the iPhone Ultra. The standard iPhone 18, meanwhile, is reportedly being pushed back to spring 2027.

That spring launch is also expected to include the iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air. This could potentially give Apple a sizeable second wave of new iPhones several months after its flagship models.

None of this is official yet. Internal software references don’t necessarily guarantee that every planned device will make it to market. However, the appearance of these identifiers in iOS 27 adds another piece. This contributes to an increasingly detailed picture of Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup.
