Samsung revealed its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor range at Gamescom 2026, and the lineup pushes display technology in some pretty extreme directions.
The new range includes a 49-inch OLED G9 with a 360Hz refresh rate, a 42-inch curved OLED G7, a 32-inch OLED G8 with three display modes, and an Odyssey G6 capable of reaching a staggering 1100Hz.
The OLED G9 is aimed at players who want an expansive ultrawide display without sacrificing speed, while the OLED G7 is designed more around cinematic, large-screen gaming. The OLED G8 offers flexibility between resolution and refresh rate, and the G6 is clearly targeting competitive FPS players.
The company is also expanding its HDR10+ Gaming push, with plans to bring the technology to more than 20 AAA games by the first half of 2027. One of the first major partnerships is with Activision Blizzard for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, while Samsung is also expanding support for Odyssey 3D gaming with titles including Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn.
What is included in the range?
The headline OLED model is the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ), which Samsung calls the world’s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate. It uses a fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Samsung’s Penta Tandem technology and offers a 5120 x 1440 resolution, 0.03ms GtG response time and up to 1,300 nits peak brightness.
It also supports Dual Mode, allowing players to switch from 5120 x 1440 at 360Hz to 2560 x 720 at up to 720Hz when speed matters more than resolution.
The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) takes a similar approach but adds a third option. Its 4K mode runs at 360Hz, QHD reaches 520Hz and FHD goes up to 680Hz. It also gets a 0.03ms response time, DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC compatibility.
Samsung has also introduced the 42-inch OLED G7 (G75SJ), a particularly interesting addition. It’s the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor, combining a 4K OLED panel, 165Hz refresh rate and 1,000R curvature. Samsung says its screen area is around 72% larger than the previous 32-inch model.
The first 1100Hz model
Finally, there’s the 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H), which is perhaps the most outrageous of the lot. Its Fast IPS panel can reach 1,100Hz in HD, while Dual Mode allows QHD gaming at up to 600Hz. It also has a 1ms response time and is expected to be available globally in the second half of 2026.
Samsung hasn’t announced pricing or exact launch dates for the new range yet, with availability varying by market.
