SwitchBot’s Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo can be opened in a load of different ways

SwitchBot has launched a new all-in-one smart lock system designed to make getting through your front door faster.

The Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo combines the new Lock Ultra Max retrofit smart lock with the Keypad Vision Pro and Hub Mini Matter Enabled, bringing features including biometric unlocking, up to 19 entry methods and Matter support to European homes.

The system is available to pre-order from now through SwitchBot’s official UK and EU websites, priced at £339.99 / €339.99. Customers who buy the combo during the launch period will also get SwitchBot’s Max Service for Lock Ultra Max at no extra cost, which includes an additional year of warranty coverage and fast return and exchange support.

At the centre of the package is the Lock Ultra Max, which upgrades an existing lock from inside the door without requiring users to replace the cylinder or make permanent modifications. Its UltraDrive brushless motor can reach 160rpm, which SwitchBot says is 3.2 times faster than the motor in the Lock Ultra.

In Max Mode, the lock can complete an unlocking operation in as little as 1.1 seconds, with more than 9kg of turning force. There’s also a Quiet Mode for users who would rather have a more discreet operation, such as when arriving home late at night.

The lock has also received a design makeover, combining an aluminium-alloy body with brushed electroplated stainless-steel detailing. A magnetic encoder helps track the lock’s movement, while SwitchBot’s Fluted Light Design gives the exterior a more premium finish.

The bigger upgrade, however, comes from the Keypad Vision Pro. It adds 3D facial recognition, palm vein recognition, fingerprint scanning, passcodes and NFC cards, alongside the other access methods offered by the wider SwitchBot system. In total, users can choose from up to 19 ways to unlock the door, including the app, smartwatch access, voice control, geofencing and a physical key.

For security, facial, palm vein and fingerprint data is processed and stored locally on the device, while AES-128 encryption protects access communications. The system can also alert you when the door is left open or unlocked, when batteries are running low and when certain weather conditions are detected.

Battery backup is another focus. The Lock Ultra Max has a 4,200mAh rechargeable battery rated for up to nine months of typical use, alongside a CR123A backup battery capable of around 500 locking or unlocking operations.

The included Hub Mini Matter Enabled also brings the lock into compatible smart-home platforms, including Apple Home and Home Assistant, while providing remote control through the SwitchBot app.

For European households looking to upgrade an existing lock without replacing the cylinder, the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo looks like a particularly feature-packed option. The £339.99 price isn’t cheap, but SwitchBot is packing a lot into the package, from multiple biometric options to extensive battery backup and Matter connectivity.
