There’s only one place you can watch Emmy awards in the UK and it’s not where you think it is

UK viewers hoping to watch this year’s Emmy Awards live have just the one option with LG Channels set to exclusively stream the ceremony for free on its LG 1 channel.

The 78th Emmy Awards will be available live in the UK on 14 September at 11:55pm BST, with no separate subscription or login required. You’ll need a compatible LG Smart TV with access to LG Channels to tune in.

LG 1 will be the exclusive UK home of the ceremony as part of LG’s ongoing partnership with the Television Academy. LG is serving as the Official Television and Home Appliance Partner of the Emmy season.

This year’s ceremony will put shows including The Pitt, Slow Horses, Hacks and The Bear in the spotlight. Moreover, viewers can expect the usual mix of big-name stars and awards-night surprises.

Getting to the broadcast should be fairly straightforward. Open the LG Channels app from your LG TV’s home screen, or press the dedicated LG Channels button on the LG Magic Remote, then select LG 1. Tune in from 11:55pm on 14 September.

There’s no extra cost for LG Channels, and the service doesn’t require viewers to create a separate account just to watch the Emmys. LG says its platform offers more than 300 free channels in the UK. These channels cover everything from classic TV and movies to live sport, news and comedy.

The catch, of course, is that this particular broadcast is tied to LG’s ecosystem. LG 1 is available exclusively on compatible LG TVs running webOS. Therefore, viewers without a LG Smart TV won’t be able to access the live Emmy broadcast through LG Channels.

For those who do have one, though, it should be a fairly painless way to catch the ceremony without signing up for another streaming service. Just open LG Channels, select LG 1 and tune in from 11:55pm.
