Motorola has given us an early look at its next ultra-premium smartphone, the Motorola Signature 27, and it’s bringing some serious hardware to the table.
Powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, the phone combines a major focus on performance with upgraded cameras, AI features and a rather fancy new design.
The Signature 27 is the second-generation model in Motorola’s Signature family and introduces a new naming system based on the final two digits of the coming year. Motorola says this will create a consistent identity for future generations.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is at the heart of the phone, bringing on-device AI, faster downloads and improvements for gaming and photography. Motorola is also using six antennas to support faster cloud-based AI applications.
Keeping all that power under control is a new ArcticMesh cooling system. It combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh and a redesigned 3D vapour chamber, which is 40% larger than the previous generation. Motorola says it’s designed to manage heat during sustained AI use, gaming and video work.
AI is another big part of the Signature 27. Google Gemini can help with everyday tasks, while Gemini Omni can turn prompts, photos or existing footage into videos. There’s also Lyria for generating original music and soundtracks. Motorola is promising seven years of OS upgrades, too.
Look at that camera
The camera setup is equally ambitious, with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto. Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine uses AI to adjust colour in real time, while Qualcomm image stabilisation works alongside the phone’s 3.5-degree OIS hardware for smoother handheld footage.
It’s also Motorola’s first smartphone with Audio by B&O, following the company’s new multi-year partnership with Bang & Olufsen.
The design gets plenty of attention, with a slim aluminium body, contoured edges and a ceramic and brushed-aluminium camera housing. It will come in Pantone Coal Smoke with a Tactical Weave finish or Pantone Capulet Olive with a brushed textile-inspired finish.
Motorola says the Signature 27 will arrive in markets worldwide in 2026, although pricing and a specific release date are still to come.
