Motorola is bringing Android 17 to more phones

Motorola is expanding its Android 17 rollout, with the update now reaching more devices in the US, including the Razr Ultra (2026) this week.

Motorola first detailed its Android 17 update in August, but didn’t give much away about when individual phones would receive it. That’s starting to change, with the latest rollout suggesting the company is now opening the update to a much wider selection of devices.

The Razr Ultra (2026) update was spotted this week, arriving as a sizeable 4.17GB download with software version A171WLH.38-19-5. It’s still running the September 2026 security update, rather than the newer security patch you might expect from such a large software upgrade.

Motorola’s condensed changelog highlights two of the bigger changes coming with Android 17: a “fresh, expressive design” and “smarter notifications.” Motorola had already outlined these changes in more detail when it first discussed its Android 17 plans, so the update isn’t simply about getting the latest Android version under the hood.

The rollout isn’t limited to Motorola’s flagship foldable, either. The Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60 Pro and Motorola Signature have also started receiving Android 17 over the past few days, suggesting the update is now moving at a much quicker pace. Edge 70 devices, meanwhile, received their updates a few weeks ago.

There’s one notable omission so far: the Razr Fold hasn’t received Android 17 yet. Motorola hasn’t indicated when that device will get the update, although its absence is a little odd given that the Razr Ultra (2026) is already being updated.

As usual with a major Android rollout, availability can vary by device and region, so seeing the update arrive on one Motorola phone doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll appear on yours immediately.

Still, after leaving the timing somewhat vague back in August, Motorola now appears to be properly getting Android 17 out the door. If you own one of the newer Edge or Razr models, it may be worth checking for an update over the next few days.
