Samsung SmartThings now works with Now Brief

Samsung is expanding its SmartThings platform in a pretty practical way by bringing Now Brief integration into the mix.

If you’ve used Now Brief before, you’ll know it as Samsung’s glanceable dashboard. It is first introduced on the Galaxy S25, serving up things like weather, reminders and calendar events.

With this update, it’s no longer just about your schedule. Instead, it now pulls in real-time updates from SmartThings-connected devices. This effectively turns it into a hub for both personal and home information.

That includes alerts from home security cameras, plus updates tied to Samsung’s Pet Care and Family Care services. The idea is simple: instead of checking multiple apps, you get everything in one place, delivered as quick, readable cards.

It also stretches beyond your phone. On Samsung smart TVs from 2024 onwards, Now Brief cards can pop up when you approach the screen. They show things like home security status, family activity, or even pet-related updates. It’s a small touch. However, it leans into Samsung’s wider push for ambient, always-available smart home info.

Family-focused features are getting a boost too. The Family Care service can now send reminders for medications and medical appointments. Meanwhile, a feature called Care on Call surfaces useful context, like activity levels or local weather during calls with family members.

Samsung is adding a slightly more advanced layer to home monitoring. Its Safety Patrol feature uses cameras on compatible robot vacuums. It can now detect if someone has fallen and may need help. In those cases, users can tap into the vacuum’s camera feed. They can even use its microphone to communicate.

It’s not a huge overhaul, but it does make SmartThings feel a bit more joined-up. It also makes it a lot more visible in day-to-day use.
