Samsung has begun rolling out the April 2026 security patch to the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A53, with the update currently available in India and South Korea.
The April 2026 patch lands for the Galaxy A55 shortly after Samsung opened the One UI 8.5 beta programme for the device, making it one of the more active months for software updates across the A5x series in recent memory.
The Galaxy A55 update arrives at 296.34MB in size and carries firmware version A556EXXSECZD1, with Samsung having initially bundled the same patch into the first One UI 8.5 beta build it released for the device before pushing it separately to units running the stable One UI 8.0 on Android 16.
That patch addresses 47 security vulnerabilities, a figure consistent with Samsung’s monthly security releases, which typically bundle fixes across both Android platform-level issues and Samsung-specific components within One UI.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy A53 is also receiving the same April 2026 patch under firmware version A536NKSSGGZD1, with availability currently limited to South Korea as Samsung begins its phased rollout for that model.
Both devices sit within Samsung’s mid-range A5x line, which has historically received consistent security support, and the Galaxy A53 remains eligible for the upcoming One UI 8.5 update based on Samsung’s published software support commitments for the series.
Samsung is not expected to open a dedicated One UI 8.5 beta programme for the Galaxy A53, however, with the company more likely to push the stable build directly to the device within the next few weeks or months rather than running a separate testing phase as it has done for the A55.
Users on either device can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install, with availability expanding to additional markets in the coming days as Samsung widens the rollout.
