Samsung’s next flagship smartwatch may not look very different from the original Galaxy Watch Ultra. However, a handful of under-the-hood upgrades could make it a more compelling update than the new renders suggest.
Fresh images shared by leaker Evleaks appear to show the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 ahead of Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event.
At first glance, very little has changed. The rugged squircle-shaped design remains intact, while the three-button layout on the right side appears unchanged from the current model.
Instead, Samsung seems to be focusing on refinement rather than a complete redesign.
According to the leaked renders, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will feature a 47mm case, 10ATM water resistance, sapphire crystal protection and LTE connectivity. In addition, new colour options also appear to be on the way. These include a black-and-grey finish and a darker green variant. Moreover, additional colours are potentially reserved for Samsung’s online store.

The bigger story, however, could be the processor.
While the leak doesn’t reveal internal specifications, Samsung has already confirmed that future Galaxy Watch models will move to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear platform. As a result, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is a likely candidate for the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip.
If that happens, it could deliver one of the biggest upgrades over the original Ultra. The new platform promises faster CPU and GPU performance. It also includes a dedicated NPU for AI-powered features and support for newer connectivity standards, including Bluetooth 6.0, Ultra Wideband, Micro-Power Wi-Fi and 5G RedCap.
That would be a notable shift from the Exynos W1000 chip used in Samsung’s current watches. This chip launched in 2024 and is starting to show its age, particularly when it comes to connectivity features.
For anyone hoping Samsung would completely rethink the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s design, these latest renders probably won’t change many minds. But if the company pairs its familiar hardware with a meaningful performance boost, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could end up being a much bigger upgrade than it first appears.
Samsung is expected to unveil the smartwatch alongside its next foldables at a Galaxy Unpacked event. This event is rumoured to take place in London later this July.
