New reports suggest Samsung is actively testing Android 17-based One UI 9 builds across a growing list of devices.
This gives us an early look at which Galaxy phones and tablets are likely to be next in line for the update.
Right now, Samsung’s One UI 9 beta is limited to the Galaxy S26 series. However, behind the scenes the company appears to be expanding development well beyond its latest flagships. According to build information spotted by SammyGuru, Android 17 test firmware has already surfaced for devices ranging from the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 families to several Galaxy A-series handsets. Additionally, it includes premium Galaxy tablets.
The list currently includes the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra and S24 FE. It also includes foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. In addition, Samsung appears to be preparing updates for more affordable devices, including the Galaxy A57, A56, A34, A17 and A16.
Tablet owners haven’t been forgotten either. Test builds have reportedly been spotted for the Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra. This suggests Samsung is aiming for another broad rollout once One UI 9 is ready.
Perhaps more interestingly, references to unreleased hardware have also surfaced. Development is reportedly underway for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Tab S12+, Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy A18. This hints that Samsung is already preparing its next generation of devices around Android 17.
That doesn’t necessarily mean these devices will receive the update tomorrow. Samsung’s beta programme is still relatively young, having started in May. The company is expected to continue testing One UI 9 over the coming weeks.
Still, the growing list of test builds is a good sign for Galaxy owners. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed a rollout schedule yet, it’s clear the company isn’t wasting any time. It is getting Android 17 ready for a surprisingly wide range of devices.
