FiiO has launched the FG3, its first dedicated gaming headset, bringing the brand’s hi-fi audio expertise to a more affordable gaming package at just £69.99 / $69.99 / €69.99.
Despite its low price, the FG3 comes with a coaxial dual dynamic driver setup that combines a 50mm driver with a smaller 16mm unit. An electronic two-way crossover manages both drivers, which FiiO says helps maintain consistent phase and directionality for more accurate positional audio in games.
Audio processing is handled by a built-in dual-core DSP chip, while the integrated DAC supports up to 192kHz/24-bit audio. There is also a dedicated headphone amplifier with up to 80mW of output power.
FiiO has added virtual 7.1 surround sound too, with Cinema and Action modes designed to create a wider 360-degree soundstage. Players may find it easier to pinpoint where footsteps and other in-game sounds are coming from.
The FG3 also comes with a detachable microphone designed for clearer voice chat. It uses Environmental Noise Cancellation to reduce background sounds such as keyboard clicks and mouse noise. Hardware-based sidetone monitoring lets players hear their own voice with low latency.
Instead of forcing users to download dedicated software, the FG3 works with the browser-based FiiO Control WEB platform. From there, users can create and save custom 10-band EQ profiles directly to the headset.
Platform support is broad, with compatibility listed for Windows PCs, smartphones, laptops, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2. The headset also has a foldable closed-back design, breathable mesh ear pads and inline controls for volume, microphone mute and audio mode switching.
At under $70, the FG3 looks like a surprisingly aggressive first move from FiiO, especially in an already crowded gaming headset market. It may be built for gaming, but the hi-fi brand is clearly leaning on what it already knows best: sound.
