Xiaomi has begun rolling out stable Android 17 to the Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra and 17T Pro, under the HyperOS 3 umbrella.
Despite using the same HyperOS 3 label, which confusingly matches the branding Xiaomi already used for its Android 16 software, the update marks a jump a full jump to Android 17 underneath, making the Xiaomi 17 line one of the first phone families anywhere to reach stable status this year.
Google finished its own equivalent rollout across the Pixel range back in mid-June, extending stable Android 17 all the way down to the older Pixel 6, while most other Android manufacturers remain confined to beta testing months into the release cycle.
One reader based in India reported receiving the update on their Xiaomi 17, carrying firmware version 3.0.331.0.XPCINXM.C10 alongside a security patch dated 5 June, and the rollout appears to extend past India, with sightings suggesting it is also reaching Xiaomi 17 series devices across Europe and other markets.
The larger Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also receiving the identical build, keeping Xiaomi’s two current flagship phones aligned on the same software version, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro has been included too, an unusual step given that mid-cycle T-series phones typically lag behind the numbered flagship line on major updates.
Its non-Pro sibling, the standard Xiaomi 17T, has not yet been confirmed as receiving Android 17, leaving a clear split in update pace within the same family; and, to add to the confusion, the update reportedly presented itself to one recipient as a routine security patch rather than a full platform upgrade.
That framing sat oddly next to a download size of 7.2GB, far larger than a typical monthly patch and consistent with a complete operating system change, so Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra and 17T Pro owners prompted to install a security update are advised to check the release notes closely.
