Apple’s next wave of Macs may have just come into focus. Updates are on the way for everything from the MacBook Neo and iMac to the Mac mini, Mac Studio and MacBook Air over the next year.
While much of the attention has centred on rumours of a touchscreen MacBook Pro, Bloomberg reports Apple’s roadmap extends well beyond that. There are new chips, redesigned hardware and refreshed entry-level models all said to be in development.
One of the biggest changes could arrive with the MacBook Neo. According to the report, Apple’s affordable laptop will swap its current silicon for the A19 Pro chip introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro alongside more RAM and new colour options.
More immediate updates are reportedly planned for later this year. Apple is said to be preparing refreshed versions of the iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro, with the focus expected to be on processor upgrades. The iMac is tipped to move to the M5 chip, while the entry-level MacBook Pro is reportedly lined up for an M6 refresh.
Bloomberg adds that Apple is still planning a full redesign of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, though that model is now expected to debut a little later with an M7 processor.
A more significant redesign could follow between late 2026 and early 2027. Apple is working on a new MacBook Ultra, which would pair M5 Pro and M5 Max chips with an OLED touchscreen and software changes to better support touch input in macOS.
The rest of the Mac family isn’t being left behind either. The report says Apple is testing new Mac mini configurations powered by M5 Pro and M6 chips. Moreover, the next Mac Studio could launch with M5 Max or M5 Ultra silicon.
MacBook Air owners are also expected to see an upgrade in 2027, with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models tipped to adopt the M6 chip.
OLED displays are also said to be spreading gradually across Apple’s lineup. After reportedly arriving on the iPad mini, the technology is expected to make its way to MacBook Pro models. Eventually, it will reach future MacBook Airs and, later on, the iMac.
As with any roadmap covering products still months away, these plans could change before launch. But if the report proves accurate, Apple has one of its busiest Mac refresh cycles in years lined up.
