Garmin has unveiled its first screen-free fitness wearable, the Cirqa Smart Band, offering round-the-clock health and fitness tracking without a monthly subscription.
It is designed for users who want detailed wellness insights without the distractions of a smartwatch. And, with up to 10 days of battery life, it’ll last longer than many regular smartwatches too.
Rather than relying on an always-on display, Garmin has focused on keeping the device as discreet as possible, with the lightweight fabric band able to be worn on either the wrist or upper arm, depending on the activity.
Despite lacking a screen, the Cirqa Smart Band still automatically detects and records a variety of activities throughout the day. Workouts can be reviewed and edited later in the Garmin Connect app. Over time, the device learns from those edits to improve future activity recognition.
Health tracking remains one of Garmin’s biggest focuses. The wearable continuously monitors heart rate, Body Battery energy levels, stress, Pulse Ox, skin temperature and sleep. Moreover, it also offers sleep scores, heart rate variability, respiration tracking and nap detection.
Women’s health features are also included, with support for menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking. Skin temperature data can be used to improve period predictions and estimate past ovulation. Users can also sync with the Natural Cycles birth control app – though that service still requires its own subscription.
Garmin hasn’t overlooked fitness enthusiasts either. The Cirqa Smart Band supports more than 80 activities, alongside training-focused features including Training Readiness, HRV Status, VO2 Max, Training Status, Workout Benefit and Recovery Time. Outdoor runs, rides and walks can also use a connected smartphone’s GPS for more accurate route tracking. Additionally, LiveTrack lets friends and family follow your location in real time.
The launch gives Garmin something that has largely been missing from its lineup; a lightweight wearable for users who want detailed health insights without another screen demanding their attention.
While devices like the Whoop have popularised the display-free fitness tracker, Garmin is taking a different approach. Instead, it is making every feature available without requiring an ongoing subscription. For existing Garmin users already invested in Garmin Connect, that could prove to be the Cirqa Smart Band’s biggest selling point.
The Cirqa Smart Band goes on sale from 24 July, priced at £179.99 / €199.99, available in a range of colours including Citron Grey, Mauve, French Grey, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue and Black.
