Buying Apple’s next flagship iPhone could become significantly more expensive.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may launch with price increases of $250 to $300 due to rising component costs, according to the latest report.
According to GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, higher prices for 2nm chips, as well as DRAM and NAND memory, could force Apple to pass some of those costs on to consumers. The increases are said to stem from ongoing component shortages, further exacerbated by manufacturers prioritising production for the booming AI infrastructure market.
If the prediction proves accurate, it would mark one of the biggest price jumps for Apple’s Pro iPhones in recent years. The current iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199. A $250-$300 increase would push the entry price of Apple’s premium handsets into entirely new territory.
The forecast also represents a notable change in the analyst’s outlook. Earlier this year, Pu suggested Apple could price the iPhone 18 Pro range “aggressively” despite rising memory costs. His latest note suggests those pressures have intensified enough to make higher retail prices more likely.
Apple itself has yet to indicate whether iPhone prices are set to rise. During its latest quarterly earnings call, outgoing CEO Tim Cook declined to comment on pricing plans for the next iPhone generation.
The timing of the rumoured increase is notable, however. In June, Apple raised prices across several product categories, including the iPad, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV and Vision Pro, though it left the iPhone lineup unchanged. Analysts have since speculated that smartphones could be next if component costs continue climbing.
Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its long-rumoured foldable iPhone this September. The foldable model is already tipped to cost more than $2,000. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 are expected to arrive in spring 2027.
For now, the reported price increases remain speculation. However, they add to growing expectations that Apple’s next flagship launch could be its most expensive yet.
