Rumours surrounding Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone continue to gather pace, with a fresh leak claiming the device remains on track for a September unveiling despite recent speculation over manufacturing setbacks.
According to frequent Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, the claim that Apple had delayed the iPhone Fold due to production issues is inaccurate.
Instead, the source claims the company encountered expected manufacturing challenges during early production. The leaker says the problems emerged during the transition from small-scale test production to larger manufacturing runs.
Perhaps more notably, the report suggests Apple didn’t need to significantly redesign the device to solve those manufacturing hurdles.
Earlier rumours had pointed to the foldable’s hinge as a potential stumbling block. Some reports even suggested the company could be forced back to the drawing board. According to this latest claim, however, the final production model remains broadly unchanged from the design Apple settled on earlier this year.
That lines up with several recent supply chain reports. These have indicated that component suppliers have continued manufacturing for the foldable iPhone without being notified of any significant delays. While none of those reports amounts to official confirmation, they collectively paint a more optimistic picture for a launch later this year.
If accurate, the latest leak also strengthens expectations that Apple could unveil the iPhone Fold alongside the rest of its flagship iPhone lineup in September, rather than pushing the device into 2027 as some earlier rumours had suggested.
As always, though, it’s worth treating the report with caution. Fixed Focus Digital has delivered a handful of accurate Apple leaks in the past, including correctly identifying the iPhone 16e ahead of many other sources. However, the account’s track record is mixed. They have also incorrectly claimed the standard iPhone 17 would receive a 120Hz display without ProMotion.
With Apple’s expected launch event now drawing closer, it may not be long before the speculation gives way to official details. Until then, the latest leak suggests that any manufacturing concerns surrounding the iPhone Fold may no longer stand in the way of a September debut.
