DJI has expanded its compact wireless microphone lineup with the launch of the Mic Mini 2S, adding a feature creators have long been asking for: built-in internal recording.
The new microphone can capture up to 28 hours of audio directly on the transmitter. It also introduces 32-bit float recording and AI-powered noise cancellation.
Building on last year’s Mic Mini 2, the Mic Mini 2S is aimed at vloggers, filmmakers and content creators. It appeals to those who want a more reliable way to capture audio without worrying about dropped connections or unexpected recording issues.
The headline upgrade is 32-bit float internal recording, giving creators far greater flexibility when recovering audio in post-production. Each transmitter includes 14.5GB of built-in storage, enough for up to 28 hours of recording in the default 24-bit mode. This allows users to preserve everything from quiet speech to sudden loud sounds without clipping.
DJI has also enhanced the microphone’s audio processing with two levels of AI noise cancelling. The Basic mode is designed to reduce indoor distractions such as air conditioning, fans and room echo. In contrast, the Strong mode tackles louder outdoor environments to keep voices clear.
Additional features include Clipping Control, which automatically reduces sudden volume spikes, and Loudness Balance, which helps maintain consistent audio levels during interviews and live streams.
The Mic Mini 2S also supports larger recording setups. A single receiver can connect to up to four transmitters simultaneously, making it suitable for podcasts, roundtable discussions and multi-person interviews. DJI says the system is backwards compatible with previous Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters, so existing users can expand their setups without replacing older hardware.
Despite the extra functionality, the transmitter still weighs just 12g and supports both clip-on and magnetic mounting. DJI is also offering interchangeable magnetic front covers, including a special Time Series edition designed in collaboration with illustrator Victo Ngai.
For creators already invested in DJI’s ecosystem, the Mic Mini 2S can connect directly to compatible cameras including the Osmo Pocket 4P, Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo 360, Osmo Nano and Osmo Action 6. It transmits 48kHz 24-bit audio without requiring a separate receiver.
The DJI Mic Mini 2S is available from today. Pricing starts at £79 / €99 for single-transmitter kits. Meanwhile, the flagship 2 TX + 1 RX + charging case bundle costs £169 / €189.
