Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE is more expensive than you might expect, with the top 512GB model costing £949 in the UK. That’s getting dangerously close to flagship money, although Samsung is still pitching the phone as an accessible way into its Galaxy AI and agentic AI features.
The Galaxy S26 FE starts at £699 for 128GB, rising to £799 for 256GB. However, if you want the most storage, the 512GB model costs £949, putting Samsung’s latest Fan Edition phone uncomfortably close to the £1000 mark.
That price gets you 8GB of RAM, with Samsung’s RAM Plus feature available to supplement it using storage. The phone comes in Graphite, Blueberry and Pistachio, and runs Android 17 with One UI 9 out of the box. Samsung is also promising seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates, so the S26 FE should remain supported for a long time.
Galaxy AI is a big part of the package
Samsung is positioning the S26 FE as an entry point to its Galaxy AI and newer agentic AI features rather than simply offering a cheaper version of its flagship hardware.
The camera system consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel telephoto, 12-megapixel ultrawide and 12-megapixel selfie camera. The front camera gets an 85-degree field of view, while the telephoto supports 3x optical zoom and up to 30x Space Zoom.
One UI 9 brings several software tricks, including Myfan Cam, which can track a selected subject while reframing video into formats such as 9:16 and 4:3. AI Photo Assist can also make changes using text prompts, such as altering an object’s colour, changing a background or adding something to an image.
Samsung is also bringing Gemini into its photography tools, allowing it to create Motion Photos and turn still images into videos.
Then there’s Now Nudge, which can understand context across third-party apps. For example, it can recognise an address and suggested time in a conversation and offer to save the details to your calendar or open them in Google Maps.
A bigger battery and faster charging
The S26 FE has a 4,900mAh battery and Samsung claims up to 29 hours of media playback. Its 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 system can take the phone to 70% in 30 minutes, while 15W wireless charging is also supported.
The display reaches 1,900 nits peak brightness and supports Samsung’s Vision Booster for improved visibility outdoors. There’s also an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Samsung is offering six months of Google AI Pro at no extra cost, adding another incentive to the package.
At £949, though, the 512GB S26 FE is a long way from the bargain pricing associated with some previous Fan Edition phones. The £699 starting price is considerably easier to swallow, but buyers wanting 512GB will be paying almost flagship money for Samsung’s more affordable Galaxy S26 model.
