Xgimi has unveiled the Aura 3 series, with the flagship Aura 3 Max claiming a world first for ultra-short-throw projectors in its support for 4K / 120Hz performance.
The new series also brings triple-laser projection, up to 5,700 ISO lumens and gaming-focused features including VRR and ALLM.
The Aura 3 range consists of two models, the Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro, with both designed to deliver a large-screen experience without sitting far from the wall.
The Aura 3 Max can project a 120-inch image from just 8 inches away, thanks to its 0.163:1 throw ratio. It can also produce images up to 200-inches, making it a particularly interesting option for anyone who wants a cinema-sized display without a conventional long-throw projector setup.
Both models use an RGB Triple Laser light engine alongside Xgimi’s new X-VISION AI Image Processor. The company has also introduced Dynamic Dual Iris technology, which uses two dynamically controlled optical apertures to regulate the amount of light passing through the optical system. Xgimi says this helps deliver deeper blacks and higher contrast, with the Aura 3 Max reaching up to 8,000:1 native contrast.
Brightness is another point of difference between the two models, with the Aura 3 Max hitting up to 5700 ISO lumens, while the Aura 3 Pro is rated up to 4100 ISO lumens.
For gamers, the 4K/120Hz support is added to with VRR and ALLM support. The Aura 3 series also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode. Xgimi has added Anti-RBE technology to reduce the rainbow effect in both 2D and 3D viewing, while two pairs of 3D glasses are included.

Audio comes from an integrated 80W Harman Kardon speaker system with Dolby Atmos, while Google TV handles streaming and apps. When the projector isn’t being used, Xgimi’s WALL app can turn the blank wall into a digital artwork display.
The Aura 3 series will launch on Kickstarter on 20 October, with the Aura 3 Max priced at $2399 and the Aura 3 Pro at $2199 for Kickstarter backers. Pre-orders are already open through Xgimi, with a $50 deposit unlocking an additional $200 discount.
