Meta is shrinking its AI assistant down to keychain size with the Muse Charm, a small wearable device that puts its Muse AI agent on a tiny screen, complete with a customisable animated avatar and real-time voice conversations.
Revealed at Meta Connect 2026, the Charm is designed to give users a more direct way to interact with Muse without reaching for their phone. Meta says it plans to ship the device in December, although pricing and availability haven’t been confirmed yet.
The device is roughly the size of an Apple AirPods case and has a touchscreen measuring around 2 inches, according to Reuters. There’s also a fingerprint sensor in the corner, which Zuckerberg used during the demonstration to start a conversation with Muse.
Once active, Muse can talk back in real time while its animated avatar appears on the display. The avatar can also be changed, tying into Muse’s existing customisation options. Meta says the Charm packs the “full Muse experience” into a keychain that’s always available to talk to.
Perhaps more importantly, the Charm has built-in 5G connectivity. That means it can connect to the internet without needing to be paired with a phone, although Meta hasn’t yet revealed which cellular networks or plans will be required.
The hardware is still very much a work in progress. Meta says it’s finalising the components and design, with only a small number of units built so far. That also means there’s plenty we don’t know, including battery life, complete specifications, pricing and exactly where the device will be sold.
Muse itself launched on 8 September and can handle tasks through a dedicated cloud environment called Muse Secure VM. It can access things such as calendars, payment methods and connected apps on a user’s behalf. Users can also give their agent a name, create its avatar and adjust how it speaks, including its accent and pace.
The Muse Charm joins Meta’s phone apps, web experience and WhatsApp as another way to access the AI agent. Meta also says Muse will arrive on its AI glasses in the coming months, making the little keychain just one part of its broader push to make its AI more readily available.
