Apple’s Home Hub could borrow design cues from one seriously iconic Mac

Apple’s long-rumoured smart home hub could finally be nearing its debut, and a new report suggests it may arrive alongside refreshed versions of the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning to unveil the trio on October 13, with the new home hub expected to be the headline addition. The device has been in development for years and was previously tipped for launches in 2024, 2025 and, most recently, late 2026.

Details remain thin, but the Home Hub is expected to feature a screen and act as a central control point for Apple Home. It’s designed for use by multiple people, with the device reportedly able to detect nearby iPhones and display relevant information for the person using it.

Apple hasn’t revealed the design, although earlier reports have suggested the company could take inspiration from one of its most recognisable Macs – the iMac G4. The exact configuration, screen size and pricing are still unknown, so there’s plenty left to learn before launch.

The Home Hub is also reportedly dependent on Apple’s updated Siri AI, which has been one of the reasons the device’s launch has taken so long. Code leaks have previously offered some clues about how its display could work, but Apple has yet to confirm any of this.

Alongside it, the HomePod mini refresh is expected to be fairly modest, with new colours rather than a major redesign. The reported options are black, white, blue, pink and green, and up to four HomePod minis could apparently be paired with the updated Apple TV 4K.

The Apple TV itself is expected to retain its existing chassis, but could get a serious internal upgrade. Rumours point to an A20 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM, which would help bring Siri AI to the TV while also giving gaming performance a boost.

Apple is also reportedly working on a refreshed larger HomePod, although that isn’t expected to arrive with this October launch. Home security products are said to be further out, with a potential 2027 release.

Beyond its own hardware, Apple is also reportedly revising HomeKit to make it easier for third-party devices to work with its smart home platform.
