RedMagic’s next gaming tablet could boast a 185Hz OLED screen

RedMagic’s next gaming tablet might be closer than expected, and it’s shaping up to be a serious display upgrade.

According to new leaks, the upcoming Gaming Tablet 5 Pro could feature a 9-inch OLED panel with a 185Hz refresh rate, which will potentially outpace most rivals in the compact gaming tablet space.

That would be a notable jump from the 165Hz screen used on the previous generation and edges past competitors like Lenovo’s latest Legion Tablet, which sticks with a 165Hz LCD. If accurate, the shift to OLED alone could make a bigger difference than the refresh rate bump and would bring deeper blacks and better contrast alongside smoother motion.

The leak comes from known tipsters Smart Pikachu and Digital Chat Station, who claim the tablet is targeting a May 2026 launch. RedMagic has already confirmed that a successor is on the way although it hasn’t confirmed an exact release date yet. Based on previous launches, a global rollout would likely follow shortly after its debut in China.

Beyond the screen, the tablet is tipped to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with an upgraded cooling system designed to keep performance stable during longer gaming sessions. That’s been a key focus for RedMagic devices and it could give the tablet an edge, especially if thermal management holds up under load.

Other reported specs include up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, along with an 8300mAh battery. Although that battery capacity is slightly behind some rivals on paper, it remains to be seen how it translates in real-world use. Especially with OLED potentially helping efficiency in certain scenarios.

Pricing is still unclear, but there’s some context. Lenovo’s competing Legion tablet launched in China at around CNY 3999 (roughly $585). This could give RedMagic a target to beat if it wants to stay competitive.

There’s also talk that the tablet could launch alongside the next RedMagic gaming phones. This may potentially form part of a broader refresh for the brand.

For now, nothing is official, but if the 185Hz OLED display holds true, RedMagic’s next tablet could be one to watch for anyone serious about mobile gaming.
