Microsoft has announced a fresh batch of Surface devices; however, if you were hoping for a big consumer-focused redesign or some surprise new hardware, this launch probably isn’t it.
Instead, the company is doubling down on AI-powered business laptops and tablets with the new Surface Laptop for Business and Surface Pro for Business range. They’re powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 chips.
Microsoft is heavily pitching on-device AI performance, security, and battery life, rather than flashy new hardware tricks.
The new Surface Laptop for Business comes in 13-inch, 13.8-inch, and 15-inch sizes. The updated Surface Pro for Business sticks with the familiar 13-inch detachable design. In other words, these still look very much like Surface devices. However, they have more AI muscle under the hood.

Microsoft claims the new Intel-powered models deliver up to 35% better graphics performance than Apple’s MacBook Air with the M5 chip. These models also offer major gains over the older Surface Laptop 5 range. Later this year, Microsoft also plans to release Snapdragon X2 versions. These promise even faster local AI processing and better battery life.
A lot of the upgrades here focus on enterprise features rather than everyday users. The new Surface Laptop for Business can now include an integrated privacy screen that blocks wandering eyes at the press of a key. Meanwhile, Microsoft is also pushing its “Secured-core PC” approach with chip-level protection and firmware security baked directly into the hardware.
There are still some quality-of-life improvements worth noting, though. Microsoft says the new models support Wi-Fi 7 and removable SSDs for easier repairs. They also feature improved haptic touchpads. On select Surface Laptop configurations, you get up to 23 hours of battery life.
The Surface Pro for Business also keeps optional 5G support. It also keeps the familiar mix of touch, pen, keyboard, and voice controls that made the Surface line popular in the first place.
Still, the bigger takeaway here is Microsoft’s continued obsession with AI PCs. Nearly every part of the announcement circles back to running AI features locally on-device. These include live transcription, image generation, writing tools, or real-time translation.
The new Surface Pro for Business and Surface Laptop for Business devices are available now in select markets. Prices start at $1,499 for the 13-inch Surface Laptop for Business.
