Sennheiser has started teasing the release of its next headphones

Sennheiser has started teasing a new pair of wireless headphones, and all signs point to the long-awaited Momentum 5 Wireless finally being on the way.

The company posted a short teaser with the tagline “the legend continues”, alongside a close-up image that looks very much like the next generation of its Momentum over-ear headphones. While Sennheiser hasn’t officially confirmed the name yet, leaked images that surfaced shortly after appear to show the Momentum 5 Wireless in full.

Visually, the new headphones don’t seem to stray too far from the Momentum 4 Wireless, which honestly makes sense. Sennheiser’s current design still holds up well nearly four years later, especially compared to rivals like Sony’s WH-1000XM6 and Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra headphones.

That said, there are a few noticeable tweaks. The leaked renders suggest the Momentum 5 Wireless could bring back more physical buttons instead of relying so heavily on touch controls. This will probably be welcome news for anyone who’s accidentally paused music while adjusting their headphones.

Reports also point to upgraded 47mm dynamic drivers, which could mean a noticeable jump in sound performance. Sennheiser has traditionally leaned harder into audio quality than flashy smart features, and the Momentum line has built a strong reputation for sounding richer and more detailed than many mainstream ANC rivals.

The timing is interesting too. Sony only recently refreshed its premium headphone range, while Apple’s AirPods Max are still overdue for a bigger update. That leaves Sennheiser with a pretty good opportunity to grab attention from buyers looking for something a little more audiophile-focused.

There’s no official word yet on battery life, noise-cancelling upgrades, pricing, or launch dates. However, leaks suggest the Momentum 5 Wireless may arrive alongside a new pair of Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds, hinting at a broader refresh of Sennheiser’s premium audio line-up.

For now, Sennheiser seems happy letting the teaser campaign do the talking. But considering how long the Momentum 4 Wireless has been around, the Momentum 5 already feels less like a surprise and more like an overdue successor finally stepping into view.
