Asus is pushing portable displays further with the new ZenScreen OLED 14, a lightweight external monitor for people who want a second screen without carrying something bulky.
The big selling point here is portability, with a thickness of just 8mm and a weight of under 500g, allowing it to easily slip into a laptop bag alongside a thin-and-light machine. It also includes a built-in fold-out stand, so setup is quick – you basically unfold it, plug it in, and you’re good to go.
At the centre of the device is a 14-inch OLED panel in a 16:10 format, offering a resolution of 1920 x 1200. Asus says the screen covers 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space. This should translate into strong colour accuracy and high contrast, especially for creative work or media consumption. As with most OLED panels, you also get deep blacks and fast response times, though Asus hasn’t shared specific brightness or refresh rate figures.
Connectivity is handled through two USB-C ports, and the setup is flexible depending on how you want to use it. If you plug in a power source through one port, the monitor can pass up to 85W charging to a connected laptop via the second USB-C connection. Alternatively, it can run entirely off your laptop if you don’t want an extra power brick. However, there’s no built-in battery.
Compatibility is fairly broad, with support for Windows and macOS. Asus also includes its DisplayWidget Centre app to adjust settings such as brightness and colour profiles directly from your computer.
There are a couple of caveats worth knowing. Mobile monitors like this often balance power consumption against performance, and Asus hasn’t confirmed key details like peak brightness or refresh rate. That suggests the design prioritises productivity and portability over high-end gaming.
Asus has not yet clarified pricing or availability for the ZenScreen OLED 14 (MQ14FCKV). However, a larger ZenScreen model currently sits at around $279 — a useful reference point for where this one might land.
