Acer is bringing one of the fastest gaming monitors yet to North America, and it’s not just about eye‑catching numbers. The new XV273U F5 combines a native 540Hz refresh rate with a dual‑mode setting that can push an incredible 1,000Hz – all for $699.99.
The 27-inch monitor has now appeared on Amazon ahead of its US launch. Although it’s currently listed as temporarily out of stock, Acer previously confirmed it would arrive in North America during Q4 2026, suggesting a release shouldn’t be too far away.
The standout feature is the monitor’s dual-mode display. By default, it runs at 2560 x 1440 (QHD) with a 540Hz refresh rate. This puts it among the fastest QHD gaming monitors available. For players chasing every possible competitive edge, it can also switch to a 1280 x 720 resolution with a blistering 1,000Hz refresh rate. This prioritises responsiveness over image sharpness.
That kind of setup is clearly for esports players, where ultra-high frame rates can matter more than resolution. However, whether the 1,000Hz mode delivers a noticeable real-world advantage remains to be seen. Similar dual-mode displays have produced mixed results in early testing, so the feature may prove more appealing on paper than in everyday use.
Beyond its refresh rates, the XV273U F5 still ticks plenty of boxes for high-end gaming. It uses a matte 27-inch IPS panel with a quoted 1ms response time, dropping to 0.5ms with overdrive enabled. It also supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync to help reduce screen tearing during gameplay.
The display reaches up to 400 nits of SDR brightness and 600 nits in HDR. It earns VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification while covering 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut for more vibrant colours.
Connectivity is equally generous, with two HDMI 2.1 ports and two DisplayPort 1.4 connections. All are capable of driving the monitor at up to 1440p and 540Hz.
At $699.99, the XV273U F5 isn’t cheap. However, its combination of QHD resolution, ultra-high refresh rates and dual-mode flexibility could make it one of the more interesting options for serious competitive gamers when it finally goes on sale.
