Bang & Olufsen’s new premium Qi2 power bank is a surprise launch

Bang & Olufsen has launched an unexpected new product, and it’s not another pair of luxury headphones or a high-end speaker.

Instead, the Danish audio brand has unveiled its first Qi2 magnetic power bank. This brings its signature premium design to a category that’s usually more about function than style.

The new Bang & Olufsen Powerbank is designed to pair with the company’s flagship Beoplay H100 headphones. However, it’ll also work with any Qi2-compatible smartphone, including the latest iPhones, as well as regular USB-C devices.

Rather than competing on battery capacity or charging speeds, Bang & Olufsen is leaning heavily into design. The 5,000mAh power bank combines a glass front with an aluminium frame. It is finished with diamond-cut edges and pearl-blasted textures that make it look more like a luxury accessory than a typical charger. It’s available in Infinite Black and Hourglass Sand, matching the finishes offered for the Beoplay H100.

The charging specs themselves are solid, if fairly standard. Qi2 wireless charging delivers up to 15W, while the USB-C port supports 20W wired charging. Recharging the power bank itself tops out at 18W via USB-C. Bang & Olufsen says just five minutes of charging is enough to provide up to 3.5 hours of extra playback for the Beoplay H100. Naturally, the accessory can also be used to top up phones, earbuds and other USB-C gadgets too.

Where things become harder to justify is the price. The Bang & Olufsen Powerbank costs £125 in the UK and €145 across Europe. This puts it well above most Qi2 power banks currently on the market.

For comparison, similar 5,000mAh Qi2 magnetic chargers from brands such as Anker and Ugreen typically cost around $50 to $60 in the US. They offer comparable charging speeds, but they don’t come close to matching Bang & Olufsen’s premium materials or industrial design.

Whether that’s worth paying more than double the price will depend on how much value you place on aesthetics. If you already own Bang & Olufsen’s premium audio gear, though, this feels like an accessory designed to complete the look just as much as it keeps your devices charged.
