Huawei has officially confirmed when its next flagship phones will make their international debut.
The Pura 90 series will launch globally on July 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This comes a few months after the lineup was unveiled in China.
The announcement follows a familiar rollout strategy. Last year’s Pura 80 series also debuted in China before receiving a global launch in July. However, Huawei only brought the Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra to international markets. It’s still unclear whether the full Pura 90 family will follow this time around.
While Huawei hasn’t confirmed which models are travelling overseas, the Pura 90 Pro and Pura 90 Pro Max are currently the headline devices. Both put a heavy focus on photography. However, the Pro Max is clearly positioned as the range’s camera flagship.
Its standout feature is a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom, built around a large 1/1.28-inch sensor. Huawei says the camera is designed to preserve more detail in challenging lighting conditions. Meanwhile, a new CIPA 7.0 stabilisation system promises steadier handheld shots.
The Pro Max also debuts Huawei’s new 50MP LOFIC main sensor, paired with a variable f/1.4 to f/4.0 aperture and optical image stabilisation. Meanwhile, the standard Pura 90 Pro opts for a 50MP main camera and a 50MP 4x telephoto sensor. This makes it a slightly more modest package without moving too far from the flagship formula.
Away from the cameras, both phones share Huawei’s new Kirin 9030S chipset, which the company says delivers major improvements to AI-powered image processing. They also feature 6,000mAh batteries with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. In addition, both phones come with HarmonyOS 6.1, which introduces Huawei’s latest AI assistant and AI-powered editing tools.
Display sizes differ slightly, with the Pura 90 Pro featuring a 6.6-inch LTPO OLED panel. Meanwhile, the Pro Max steps up to 6.9 inches. Both offer adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz, second-generation Kunlun Glass protection, and IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance.
Huawei hasn’t confirmed global pricing or availability yet. However, with the international launch event now locked in for July 14, those details shouldn’t be far behind.
