Epson has expanded its business scanner lineup with three new A3 flatbed models aimed at enterprise users.
Each features a built-in touchscreen alongside wireless networking and PC-free scanning. The new DS-51000WN, DS-61000WN, and DS-71000WN are now available in the US starting at a rather pricey $1,899.
Designed for offices handling large volumes of paperwork, the scanners target sectors including finance, government and enterprise. In these sectors, high-speed document capture and network connectivity are key.
All three models feature a 4.3-inch LCD touchscreen, allowing users to operate the scanner directly without relying on a connected PC. Epson has also included ScanWay, which enables documents to be scanned and shared without a computer.
The trio also supports TWAIN and ISIS protocols for compatibility with a wide range of document management software on both Windows and macOS. Other shared features include adjustable scanning resolutions from 50dpi to 1,200dpi. There is also 1- to 24-bit colour depth, and dedicated scanning modes designed for books and photographs.
The biggest differences come in performance. The DS-51000WN is the entry-level model and omits an automatic document feeder (ADF). As a result, it is better suited to lower-volume or specialised scanning tasks.
Stepping up to the DS-61000WN adds a 150-sheet ADF and duplex scanning at up to 50 pages per minute and a daily duty cycle of 8,000 sheets. It supports media ranging from 4.13 x 5.83 inches up to 11.7 x 17 inches, and it handles paper weights between 52g/m² and 413g/m².
At the top of the range, the DS-71000WN increases scanning speed to 70 ppm or higher and raises the daily duty cycle to 11,200 sheets. It’s also the only model in the lineup to include EdgeLink support, giving businesses access to Epson’s companion workflow software.
Pricing reflects the differences in capability. The DS-51000WN costs $1,899, while the DS-61000WN is priced at $3,699. The flagship DS-71000WN comes in at $4,999. All three scanners are available now through Epson’s official store and authorised CapturePro retailers.
