The Xiaomi 18 Fold is getting a few more colour options, giving us a better look at the foldable ahead of its official launch. New official press images show the phone in dark grey, black and white, joining the burgundy finish Xiaomi has already shown off.
The wider foldable has made a brief appearance at IFA in Berlin, where it was displayed behind plexiglass. Despite that European showing, Xiaomi isn’t planning to officially launch the 18 Fold in Germany or, apparently, other markets outside mainland China.
That makes its colour options more of a curiosity for international buyers, but there’s still plenty going on under the hood. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is set to be the first smartphone powered by Xiaomi’s new XringO3 chip, which is due to be officially unveiled alongside the phone on September 7.
Xiaomi is also expected to offer the foldable with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, although the source specifically says only this top-end configuration is expected to use LPDDR6 memory from CXMT.
As for the price, leaker Digital Chat Station claims the Xiaomi 18 Fold will start at 10,000 yuan in China. That’s a fairly typical starting point for foldable phones in the Chinese market, although it’s worth noting that the source itself appears to contain a typo, listing the figure as €10,000 before referring to 10,000 yuan.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold has already attracted attention for its wider design and compact form factor, positioning it as something of an alternative to the increasingly popular smaller foldables. Xiaomi even brought it to IFA despite having no plans to sell it officially in Germany.
The new images don’t reveal any major hardware changes, but they do show that buyers in China will have more than the burgundy model to choose from. With the launch now imminent, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for the full specifications, pricing and availability details to be confirmed.
