Google’s next affordable Pixel could be getting a familiar design with a much bigger upgrade under the hood. Purported renders of the Pixel 11a have appeared online, showing a new purple colour and suggesting the phone could use Google’s latest Tensor G6 chip.
The renders, shared by Android Headlines and OnLeaks, show a phone that looks very similar to the current Pixel 10a. There’s still a flat design and no obvious camera bump, with the reported purple finish joining black, silver and green options. As usual, Google will likely give those colours more creative names when the phone eventually becomes official.
The bigger change could be inside. The Pixel 11a is reportedly set to use the Tensor G6, the same processor found in the flagship Pixel 11. That would be a notable step up from the Pixel 10a, which took the unusual step of using the older Tensor G4 found in the Pixel 9 series for a second year running, rather than the Pixel 10’s newer G5.
That could also mean the cheaper A-series phone gets access to more of Google’s latest Pixel features. The Pixel 10a was still a feature-packed phone with a strong camera for its price, but it missed out on some Pixel 10 features, including Magic Cue, which provides contextual assistance.
There’s less certainty around the price. The Pixel 7a through Pixel 10a all started at $499 in the US, but the ongoing RAM shortage could push the Pixel 11a closer to $599. One possibility is that Google follows the standard Pixel 11’s approach by dropping the 128GB version while keeping a 256GB model at $599. UK pricing remains unknown.
That remains speculation for now, and Google hasn’t commented on the leak. The Pixel 11a is also still some way from an official launch; the Pixel 10a was announced in February, giving us a rough idea of when its successor could arrive.
For now, the combination of a new colour and Tensor G6 could be enough to get the Pixel 11a back on track, but we’ll need to wait for Google’s official announcement before the specifications and pricing are confirmed.
