Samsung’s next big Android update has started to take shape early, with leaked One UI 9 test builds revealing a handful of new features. These include an AirDrop-style sharing tool and refreshed home screen widgets.
Spotted in internal builds obtained by SamMobile, the standout addition is Tap to Share. This feature lets you send photos, videos and files by simply tapping two devices together. In short, it’s essentially Samsung (and Android more broadly) catching up to Apple’s AirDrop and NameDrop-style sharing. However, a wider cross-device approach is expected.
Beyond file sharing, Samsung appears to be reworking everyday usability. New Bixby widgets in 2×1, 2×2 and 4×1 sizes have been added to the home screen. These offer quicker access to voice commands, text input and even a built-in prompt box on larger layouts. It’s a small tweak, but one that makes Samsung’s assistant a bit more visible. In addition, it is potentially more useful.
There’s also a new Warranty and Care section tucked into Settings. This brings together device diagnostics, repair info and support tools in one place. With Bixby integration, users can ask for help via voice instead of digging through menus.
Accessibility is another area getting attention. Features like Select to Speak, which reads on-screen content aloud, and Text Spotlight, which enlarges and highlights text, aim to make the interface easier to navigate. Even system controls are getting subtle tweaks. For example, larger brightness and volume sliders are appearing in the Quick Panel.
It’s worth noting that One UI 9 is still months away from release. It is expected to debut alongside Samsung’s next foldables, likely around July. As with most early builds, features could change before launch. However, if these leaks are anything to go by, Samsung is focusing less on big redesigns and more on practical, everyday improvements.
