Samsung might’ve just tipped its hand on its upcoming smart glasses.
This time, it didn’t come from a flashy teaser or keynote. Instead, the company quietly added Galaxy Glasses support to One UI through a routine app update. This effectively confirms key features before the product has even been announced.
The change was spotted by SamMobile in an update to Samsung’s Nearby Device Scanning app. This app handles quick connections across Galaxy devices. The latest version explicitly mentions support for “Glasses quick pair and battery pop up,”.
Importantly, this suggests the wearable will integrate much like Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watches. In practice, that means users should be able to pair the glasses instantly and should also be able to check battery status directly on their phone.
That battery pop-up is particularly telling. Reports suggest the first-gen Galaxy Glasses won’t include a built-in display. So, surface-level info like battery life will need to be handled through a connected device instead, and hints at how Samsung expects people to actually use these day-to-day.
Leaks earlier this week already gave us a rough idea of what to expect from the hardware, with the glasses said to follow a familiar Wayfarer-style design. This keeps things low-key rather than overly futuristic. Under the hood, though, they sound far more ambitious, with built-in speakers, microphones, touch controls, and a 12MP camera alongside an LED indicator for recording.
They’re also expected to run Android XR with Gemini integration. This opens the door to voice commands, quick answers and on-the-go tasks. Essentially, they become a lightweight, AI-powered companion rather than a full display-first device.
Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Galaxy Glasses just yet. Still, all signs point to a launch later this year, and is likely to happen during a summer Galaxy Unpacked event. There’s even a chance we could get an early preview sooner. This is especially true with Google pushing its Android XR platform more heavily.
