Alongside its Android 17 announcement, Google has introduced Googlebook – its newest laptop series.
Designed for Gemini Intelligence, Googlebook promises to bring together Chrome, Google Play and a modern OS into a range of laptops that are all built with premium materials. Googlebook looks like a natural successor to Google’s 15 year old Chromebook series, and claims to be more of an “intelligence system” rather than merely an operating system.
If you want a deeper dive into Googlebook, make sure you visit our Googlebook vs Chromebook and Googlebook vs Windows 11 guides. Otherwise, we’ve put together everything we know about when Googlebook laptops are set to launch globally.
We’ll be sure to update this guide when we know more details about the launch dates. In the meantime, our list of the best laptops and best budget laptops should have you covered.

When will Googlebooks launch?
At the time of writing, we don’t have specific details of when we can expect to get our hands on a Googlebook – or even pre-order one, for that matter. Instead, Google has just stated that the devices will become available “this fall”.
In fact, although Google has teased some of the features that Googlebooks will sport, including Magic Pointer and Create my Widget, exact specs for laptops are yet to be revealed. We’ll simply have to wait until Google reveals more.

How much will a Googlebook cost?
Much like how we don’t know exactly when Googlebooks will officially launch, we unfortunately don’t currently know how much a Googlebook is likely to set us back either.
Considering Chromebooks can be found on our best budget laptops and best student laptops guides, and can be found for as low as £249/$179, we hope that Googlebooks will be just as affordable. However, with RAM prices still at high levels and availability scarce, there’s a chance that Googlebooks might be more expensive than we’d like.

Which brands will launch Googlebooks?
Google has stated that Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo will be the first brands to launch their own Googlebooks this Fall. While we don’t currently know how each brand’s iteration will differ from one another, Google has promised that every Googlebook will be built with “premium craftsmanship and materials” and will come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
All Googlebooks will be identifiable by a unique glowbar which is described as being “both functional and beautiful”. At the time of writing, the exact functionality of the glowbar remains unknown.
