There won’t be a next-gen iPad Pro this year – report

Apple’s next iPad Pro reportedly won’t arrive until early 2027.

According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple is preparing a wave of new hardware for the first half of 2027. and a refreshed iPad Pro will join new iPhones and a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro.

Unlike previous iPad Pro updates, this one isn’t expected to introduce a fresh design. Instead, Apple will reportedly stick with the current 11-inch and 13-inch form factors. It will focus its efforts on boosting performance under the hood.

Exactly which chip will power the tablet remains unclear. Bloomberg suggests Apple is still deciding whether the new iPad Pro will ship with an M6 or jump straight to the M7. This will depend on how its roadmap develops. The company is also testing a vapour chamber cooling system to help the tablet sustain peak performance for longer. However, that feature has reportedly not been finalised.

While the iPad Pro may not look dramatically different on the outside, the rumoured hardware upgrades could make it a more meaningful update for users. This is especially true for those who regularly edit video, create digital artwork or run demanding apps.

The new iPad Pro is expected to launch alongside several other Apple devices. Bloomberg claims Apple is planning to unveil a redesigned 14-inch MacBook Pro with M7. This would bring a new look to its most affordable Pro laptop.

Apple’s spring 2027 smartphone lineup could also be unusually packed. Rather than launching every iPhone in September, the report says Apple may split the range across two release windows. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Ultra would reportedly arrive first in the autumn. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 will follow in early 2027.

Joining it could be the iPhone Air 2 and the budget-friendly iPhone 18e. The second-generation Air model is likely to receive three notable upgrades: Apple’s A20 Pro chip, a new ultra-wide camera and improved battery life. However, it’s not yet known whether that extra endurance will come from a larger battery or improved efficiency.

Nothing is official yet, but if Bloomberg’s report proves accurate, early 2027 is shaping up to be one of Apple’s busiest product launches in recent memory. New iPads, Macs and iPhones are all expected within the same release window.
